easy for a band to do when they've had the same 15 minutes for 5+ years. I keed, I keed,  i understand the sentiment, but this seems like a real "get off my lawn, you darn kids." thing to say. shitty bands shouldn't play longer than 15-20 minutes, awesome bands that have a good catalog and now how to keep the live flow going, can play for like an hour before i lose interest. just because all you jaded dorks cant wait to get back to the bar and compete to land the best one liner about so and so's personality defect (i know because i do it too, with a good portion of you), doesn't mean everyone feels the same way. not to belittle joke telling/shit talking by any means, thats more than half of the fun to be had at shows. I'm not trying to sound all creative freedom/artsy fartsy sarich on everyone, but if D.R.I only played for 15 minutes id be really angry, and demand the money that i didn't pay cause i'm playing, back. then maybe i'd laugh that they pulled a fast one on the unsuspecting public. but then again, what do i know, i haven't even put any songs to some wax yet, just cd-r demos and cheap tapes. now, go back to bestowing punk rock commandments upon the heathens. I hear ya cluckin big chicken. NEVER thought I would be an old guy (26?) complaining about this kind of shit. 3 band show: knock yourself out. 6 band show: play your best 5 songs and hit the bricks! And Jimmy, you know damn well that DRI argument is totally not relevent here;) Headling bands need not keep to this rule. here, here. |

i highly doubt i'll be able to get DRI to do both shows. everything has to go through their booking agent (whom i already asked but doubt i will hear a reply) and i dont know any of the DRI members personally, so unless someone does on here and can ask them about it, that would be cool. both venues are only a mile apart, so it is doable if they show up to fubar and share equipment then we head over to firebird after. i highly doubt this would work out though.
daniel, would cross exam want to play early at fubar with ramming speed?
let me know, we can end the show around 7:30 or 8 and head to firebird. that's what im going to do. i hope those who want to go to both will be able to.

so thinking about doing an afterparty instead of early show and having ramming speed play, maybe one or two more bands. would take place at fubar down the street directly after the show. OR at firebird if they'll let me do that. more info soon

RAMMING SPEED (Boston thrash/grind metal on Candlelight Records) www.myspace.com/officialrammingspeedwith Phil Harwood of Bones Brigade +TBA (Probably Cross Examination, Cobrangutan, .....? ) MONDAY, OCTOBER 4TH DRI show @ The Firebird 2706 Olive St. St. Louis, MO, 63103 Show 7:30pm (should be over around 11pm or so?) Afterparty House Show 4401 Itaska St. Louis, MO 63116 (one block away from the Silver Ballroom in south city) There'll be a keg, bring stuff to BBQ $5 for a cup and for the show. If you aren't drinking or BYOB, still bring money for the band because shit aint free |
