To be legit I saw Gus get hit in the jaw for no reason. He spit no beer or started any shit he was standing between a dude yelling at a girl. Shit was whacky though.

he did get hit for practically no reason. it was his friends that were causing the problems while him and a few other people were being totally cool. it was 2 dudes and the bulldyke girl that were there that did not need to be there.

Sober summary: Gang Control bailed, forced us to play earlier than anticipated (which i don't mind) but some of those bike kids are friends of mine and Gus'. They became upset that they missed us by 5 minutes, got shitfaced, and started being loud, rowdy assholes as they tend to be in public. I was outside in the van wiping off gallons of sweat when they came out saying that some heated words were exchanged over some dudes crowd killing them. i'm guessing that's where the trouble started? I don't care I just wanted to play a show and get my anger release out that way.
Pit beef, who gives a fuck?
2nd part, I was bummed that I missed strangers now and the Mental - History 101 cover I recognized from the van as I was listening to my whiny friends whine about moshing without giggling in their faces. I walk back in as Rotting Out starts, someone bounces the crowd a little and it foams up a gal pal of our's beer, she decides to blow the foam off, most likely at a random dude who looks like he's about to pit doze, on purpose. yes it was disrespectful, but it's some beer, big fucking deal. This turns into the tipping point of both sides to start getting uselessly aggressive toward one another. being a flight personality, I step to the side and watch a fratboy argument commence as arms went up and grunts were exchanged, which the staff handled swiftly and professionally. Brandon, I have nothing but sympathy and pity for the situations you're dragged into.
Then Gus sensed a lady (albeit a shit disturbing one) being in possible danger and I watched him get in green shirt's face. then whichever nerd was wall punching/crowd killing comes over and punches Gus in the jaw, because he's a stupid dick, plain and simple. i saw the looks of vicarious blood lust in some of your eyes and you little dorks ought to be ashamed. TIME OUT FOR ALL OF YOU. I worked with Gus all day today, he never complained once about jaw pain after the light tap he received to the mandible after laughing it off and trying to make good with said dick.
also, mikey your little fuck you mosh call was cute. The taller broad and blink 182 shirt probably deserved it. I noticed Rotting Out joe whoever the hell from bridge 9 trying to act as a voice of reason and diffuse the situation by yelling "get those fucking crusties/hipsters out of here" and everyone jumping on the bandwagon. again, shame. These kids didn't leave their dogs tied up to bike racks or really do anything that asshole crusties/bike punx do besides rub people the wrong way (including me for a couple of them) and being unable to hold their liquor in public without acting like 7 year olds.
These events are exactly what needs to NOT happen at lounge shows and stop perpetuating a myth of fubar being a place where tough guys solve shit with violence, when it's just a kick ass show space that knows how to run shit proper. it's just that morons get uppity on occasion. This is exactly as awkward as I felt after the Duress fiasco.
All in all, both sides were wrong and none of it needed to happen. the punx need to learn how to stick their arm up when some windmills are gaining power, handle their booze, and maybe learn to shut up or tell better jokes. The "tough guys" needed to adjust their bad attitudes and lighten the fuck up. nothing good comes from stupid grudges like these. Also, to be a total hypocrite/reiterator that one guy was being a stupid dick.
it's over, everyone get high, get naked, get friendly or get out. If this escalates to anything further I will do what I can to not promote bands that are being dicks or shows that could lead to me having to make a hospital visit to a dipshit that I barely want to talk to in the first place.
Sidebar: mdc shirt kid. you hit your head on the table I was standing at like 3 times in a row, circle pitting. Are you ok? I couldn't help but laugh at a stranger injuring them self repeatedly, but I was worried about some kind of head injury for a second.

last note: no clue what happened as we pulled away other than the bike nerds getting loud. I was told to put air in the tire as the story I just recounted was re-told to me 40 times in 20 minutes. if they acted up after that, then have at them? whatevz.
