NIGHT BIRDS (NJ although currently they are accepting the NYC label) the last time these gents were here, Blank Space was referred to as Cranky Yellow! DOO U NO NITE BERDS? I'd like to think that if you don't you're living under a rock. Featuring members of the Ergs and Psyched to Die, Night Birds don't stray too terribly far from their previous efforts; Snotty punk with a surf/skate edge. Some have used "pop punk" as a description, but that's deceiving. Night Birds are pop punk in the same way you would consider the Zero Boys, Angry Samoans, Adolescents, Descendents, etc, pop punk. While they're not full blown hardcore punk, they're not pop punk by any means. Fat Wreck Chords just signed them up to release a 7in. WOW! Let's hope the singer doesn't get diarrhea during their set again!

TENEMENT (WI) I'm not sure if I should've led this event invite with Night Birds since Tenement is arguably way more well known in STL. You may be living under a rock if you don't know who Night Birds are, but if you've never heard of Tenement then you're not only living under that rock, but about 5 more. If you haven't seen Tenement in one of the million times they've played in STL, then what the hell are you waiting for??? They Wisonsinly channel the Minneapolis sound that bands like Husker Du and the Replacements made popular. They also annihilate live. Didn't some magazine like Spin just name them as a "band to watch"??

GIVE (DC) their first, *correction* SECOND time in STL! Give invokes the sounds of Revolution Summer. I really hope a Revolution Summer explanation is unnecessary. Think Rites of Spring, Ignition, some have even heard Verbal Assault. Come decide for yourself!

OCCULT DETECTIVE CLUB (TX) pop punk from that magical land of Denton TX. Seriously, how does Denton do it? 7in out on Dirtnap recs!
occultdetectiveclub.bandcamp.com/
LUMPY AND THE DUMPERS (UGH)
INVITE YO FRIENDS!
The tour has been hitting larger venues, but this is St. Louis so why not keep it in a fun, intimate spot like BLANK SPACE?? I can dig it.
Unfortunately this tour also calls for a higher door price, so you better make sure your mom gives you an extra $10 for lunch that week!
4/2/13 $10 9pm Blank Space
